Class Schedule


2011-2012 


Creative Movement:  Age 3-5.  An introduction to dance and movement.  The class emphasizes creativity, basic dance positions and steps, rhythm, coordination, and discipline in a fun environment.  Class meets once per week for 30 minutes.  Times include Tuesday 5:30pm, Wednesday 10:00am, Wednesday 11:15 am, Thursday 3:00 pm, and Saturday 11:00am.  Monthly tuition is $39.


Pre-Ballet I:  Age 4-6.  An introduction to dance and movement.  The class emphasizes creativity, basic dance positions and steps, rhythm, coordination, and discipline in a fun, supportive environment.  Class encourages participation, autonomy, and confidence development which are needed for future classes.  Class meets once per week for 45 minutes.  Times include Tuesday 3:30pm, Wednesday 10:30am, Wednesday 2:45pm, Thursday 5:30pm and Saturday 10:15am.  Monthly tuition is $44.


Pre-Ballet II:  Age 6-8.  Pre-ballet II continues the creative movement of dance while transitioning to a true ballet-format class.  Students further explore positions, dance steps, rhythm and coordination in a disciplined, yet fun environment.  The class continues to build autonomy and confidence.  Class meets once per week for 45 minutes.  Times include Tuesday at  4:15pm, Wednesday at 3:30, Thursday 6:15pm and Saturday at 9:30am.  Monthly tuition is $44. 


Ballet I:  Age 7-11.  Ballet I is the first class completely in the traditional ballet format.  The class emphasizes further mastering ballet positions, learning more steps, finding proper body placement as well as continuing development of rhythm, coordination, flexibility, style, and discipline in a fun, supportive environment.  The one hour class is required once per week; two classes per week are highly encouraged.  Times include Monday at 3:35pm, Tuesday 5:00pm, Thursday 5:30pm, and Saturday at 10:30am.  Two days a week highly recommended.  Monthly tuition is $82; $47 if only one class per week is attended. 


Ballet II:  Age 8-13.  Ballet II builds upon the movements, steps, and positions taught in Ballet Level I while continuing to develop strength for proper body alignment and positioning.  Further emphasis is put on coordination, flexibility, and style while still realizing the need for enjoyment so students can continue to progress.  Ballet II meets two days per week for one hour at a time; Monday at 5:35 or Tuesday at 4:30pm and Thursday at 3:35 or Saturday at 9:30am.  Third class may be added and is recommended for the more serious/older dance.  Monthly tuition is $82 for 2 classes per week; $112 for 3 classes per week. 


Ballet III:  Age 10-15.  Ballet III adds more complex body alignment, traveling patterns, musical rhythms, and artistic development to the class.  Students continue to work toward perfected positions, strength, and flexibility in a fun, supportive environment.Student may begin pre-pointe/pointe as advised by the instructor.  Class meets Monday 4:35pm and Wednesday 4:15pm, or Tuesday at 6:00pm and Thursday at 6:30pm.  Three days a week is highly encouraged.  Monthly tuition is $82 for 2 classes per week; $112 for 3 classes per week.


Ballet IV:  Age 12+.  Ballet IV continues to strive toward perfection of more complicated ballet steaps and positions while expanding on movement knowledge.  Class emphasizes strength, placement, coordination, flexibility and style in a fun, supportive environment.  Student may begin pre-pointe/pointe work as advised by the instructor.  Class meets Tuesday at 7:00pm, Wednesday at 5:45pm, and Friday at 4:00pm.  For the more serious dancer the "Opent" Ballet IV/V/Advanced Community Ballet may be added Monday at 6:35pm.  Monthly tuition is $112; four days a week is $142.


Ballet V:  Age 14+.  Ballet V requires an understanding of ballet principles and technique.  It continues to strive towards perfection of movement and positions with personal style and interpretation as well as further develops strength, flexibility, and coordination.  Much focus is put on more advanced, detailed pointe work.   Four days a week is required for performance; 5-6 classes a week is recommended.  Class meets Tuesday at 7:00pm, Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 5:00pm, and Saturday at 11:30pm.  "Open Ballet IV/V/Advanced Community Ballet may be added at 6:35pm Monday.  6th additional class meets on Wednesday at 5:45.  Monthly tuition is $142 for 4 days per week; $172 for 5 days per week; $195 for 6 classes per week.


Pre-Pointe: Age 11+.  Pre-pointe is to help strengthen and stretch feet and ankles and continue to work proper body alignment and core strength to prepare for pointe.  Class meets Wednesday at 5:15 (30 minute).  Monthly tuition is $20.  Requires a thera-band.


Community Ballet:  Class is designed for high school and adult students of beginning and intermediate experience levels.  The class works on fitness while teaching and perfecting ballet movements and positions in a relaxed, fun environment.  Class meets Monday at 7:45pm or Saturday at 8:30 am.  More experienced dancer may take Advanced class on Monday at 6:35pm.  Monthly tuition is $47 for one class per week; $82 for 2 classes per week.


Jazz:  Jazz I age range is 7 - 11, Jazz II age range is 9-13, Jazz III age range is 11 +.  The class emphasizes strength, flexibility, coordination, and expression in a fun, energetic setting.  This class is designed to be a wonderful supplement to any serious ballet student, while also teaching fundamental jazz steps.  Jazz I & II meet Thursday at 4:35 (55 minutes, in different studios), Jazz III meets Tuesday at 6pm (1hr).  Monthly tuition of $47 (Discount to $37 if enrolled in additional dance class!).  It is strongly recommended that jazz students also enroll in a ballet class for well-rounded, complete foundational training.


Privates:  Recommended for the serious dance student. Allows for individual attention and training catered to the student's specific needs.   $25 for the first half-hour of any one sitting; $20/an hour for further instruction.  Call ABA at (503)364-4738 to schedule.
