Sara Godfrey
Mrs. Godfrey is originally from Doylestown PA. She was a member of the Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania for eight years and performed leading roles in full length ballets including The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Coppelia, Aladdin, and Paquita. She has attended summer programs, on scholarship, at Princeton Ballet and Boston Ballet. At Boston Ballet school she studied under Devon Carney and performed the principal roll in Etudes. Mrs. Godfrey was also a scholarship student at the Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet from 1997-1998.
Mrs. Godfrey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Brigham Young University. While there she was a member of Theatre Ballet. She performed the Principal role in La Byadare, as well as in many original works of choreography. As a member of the company she toured throughout the Western United States, and appeared in various performances and filming projects including an excerpt from the musical Utah!, and the original ballet Goldilocks. She performed in the 2002 Salt Lake City Paralympics Winter Games opening ceremonies and also danced venues for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games. While at BYU Mrs. Godfrey was the 2002 recipient of the Sarah Anne Edgren dance scholarship as well as a recipient of a dance scholarship through the Theatre Ballet for four years.
Mrs. Godfrey has appeared as a model for Prima Soft Dancewear in Dance Magazine and Dance Spirit.
Mrs. Godfrey has 14 years experience teaching ballet. She has taught in private studios in Pennsylvania, Washington, and Utah working with all ages and levels. She also volunteered to teach an open Jazz class at North High School in Salem, OR.
Mrs. Godfrey is excited to be able to teach at American Ballet Academy. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids.
